Safeway - US - ROTS Promotional Cards (2005)

One of the nicer ROTS promotions, if you happen to have a Safeway store in your area. Safeway is a large commercial chain of supermarkets that includes such stores as Randalls, Von Super, Safeway, and Dominicks. At this time it is unclear if all of these store chains are running the promotion, or if the promotion is regional to only part of the US. Research continues. What is known is that this is a set of 16 cards, available in 4 packs of 4 cards each.

Packs are clear cellophane, and consistently contain the same 4 cards per pack. Cards are being offered to customers who spend a minimum of $10 on Star Wars related products in the stores. One pack permitted per store visit. The promotion is a 'while supplies last' style promotion, but presumably a considerable number of these cards have been printed and sent to each store.

The cards are good looking cards. Each card has a rounded black star field border. Inside the border, a bright colored background highlights the posed image of a character or scene. The Star Wars logo is in the lower left corner of each card with the character name to the right. Card backs have basic information about the character shown on the card front.
