Pepsi - Mexico - Promotional Cards (1999)

This set of 96 cards was distributed in Mexico during the 1999 promotions for Episode One. Fans wanting this card set had to purchase bottles of Pepsi. Turning in pepsi caps earned them packs of the cards. Each pack contained 3 cards. Collectors could also turn in bottle caps to earn one of 3 collector booklets used to store their cards. All 3 booklets are needed to hold the full set of cards.

The backs of the cards form puzzles. A total of eight puzzles could be formed once you collect all 96 cards (which is extremely difficult to do).

These cards are printed on thin card stock, and are a widevision size, except that the cards are tall rather than wide.

While a great deal of fun to collect because of the puzzles, and because of the wide range of character images on the cards, the sheer size of the set, and the rarity of most cards above number 81, make the set frustrating as well.

Below you will find a description of each of the eight puzzles formed by the cards.

• Cards 1-12 form a scene showing Qui-Gon and Darth Maul dueling in the desert
• Cards 13-24 form a podracing scene
• Cards 25-36 form a Naboo fighter
• Cards 37-48 form Queen Amidala in black on her throne
• Cards 49-60 form a droid signalling the attack
• Cards 61-72 form Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on the defensive
• Cards 73-84 form a composite scene of Maul, Qui-Gon and Anakin
• Cards 85-96 form Jar Jar near Anakin's pod
