Bootleg - Hungary - Episode One Trading Cards (1999)

Following the release of the original films, Hungarian collectors were able to buy bootleg trading cards that were made using images from magazines and other sources. The same is now true for Hungarian collectors interested in Episode One trading cards.

The new bootleg card set is of a much higher quality than the original bootlegs, but the cards are still somewhat cheaply made. Printed on a glossy stock, this 20 card set features a checklist and black and white image on the back of every card. Cards are not numbered. Card backs read in part,

The front of one card contains the same image as the backs of each card (card backs are black and white).This card image seems to show assorted planets, and some unknown item (a ship? a gungan sub? a galactic stingray?).

Another card shows the Star Wars poster image (from poster 2). All other cards feature an Episode One character imposed in front of this same scene, their name, and the Star Wars logo (minus the copyright symbol). The R2-D2 card actually shows the Lego Technik product, instead of an actual image of R2. Other character selections show an interesting slant for these cards.
