Pepsi - Germany/Hungary - Promotional Cards (1999)

This is a set of 45 cards. It is similar in design to the Mexican Pepsi set, just with fewer cards, and, instead of being widevision in size, the cards are the size of standard trading cards. Like the Mexican set, card backs are parts of puzzles that make up poster images. There are fewer cards however, and so fewer total poster images. These cards were available either through Pizza Hut, or through the purchase of Pepsi products. A great addition to any collection.

What is of special interest with this card set?

It is one of a very small number of standard card size sets issued for Episode One where widevision sizing seems to have predominated. Also interesting is the decision for all of the captions to be in English, rather than in German. Although it is often difficult to tell the intended language when captions are names, use of the name Queen Amidala rather than the German equivalent is unusual for a regional product. A few small errors also exist on the cards, and only one of the 45 cards was done in a landscaped format.
