Q. What is a Mystery Box? A Mystery Box is a package that is sent from person to person, usually within a small group, that contains miscellaneous items that have been place there by other members of the group. The package may contain trading cards, toys, magnets, posters, or some other items that people would want to trade. When a box is received by a member, some items are removed and new mystery items are placed back in. The box is then sent to the next person either in a cycling list or randomly among the members depending on how the group is set up.
Q. How does someone start a Mystery Box? A Mystery Box is started by posting an announcement that gives details about the box and asks for people to join the list. Every box can have it's own rules, themes, and member list. For ideas, check out the other boxes that have already started. Please be serious about starting a box before posting.
Q. What are some suggestions for starting a Mystery Box? -Don't let the list get too big or you might never see the box again! If you give each person a few days to check out the box and allow for shipping times, you may only see the box once or twice a year!
-Be selective when choosing members. You don't want someone to join that is just gonna keep the box and run with it.
-Make sure that people don't abuse the box. When they take something from the box, they should replace it with something of equal value. You wouldn't want a box full of chase cards to become a box of five cent commons!
-The box is supposed to be fun. Remember it's a Mystery Box. While the items inside may help with your collection, the idea is to have fun opening the box and seeing what's inside. When stocking the box back up, put a stuff inside that people might not be expecting.
