There are some things to do as we approach 2008, the 31st anniversary of Star Wars.
1. We need to decide which charity or charities will benefit from any charity events we host on the site. I'd love it if folks would make suggestions, and eventually I'll ask site members to help make a final decision. We can stick with old favorites like the National MS Society and Nothing But Nets, or look for new charities. Qualifications to be considered: a. The majority of funds raised need to be spent on charitable work. b. It is helpful if the charity has a way for people to directly give to the charity, while letting SWTC track that the giving was done (see the sites for past charities to see what I mean). I never want to be collecting money myself. c. It is nice if the charity is meaningful in some way to SWTC members.
2. We need to start thinking about a 2008 postcard. I know everyone wants us to do regular trading cards, but I've not been able to get permission to do that, and I won't do it without permission. Our postcard usually highlights the site in some way, and generally supports our charity efforts. Suggestions, or actual designs are welcome.
These are the specs for the card printing service we use: Full Bleed Size (starting document size) 5.59" x 4.33" 142mm x 110mm 1677 x 1300 pixels * Finished artwork should use the full bleed dimensions for best results. Document Trim Size (final size after being cut) 5.47" x 4.21" 139mm x 107mm 1642 x 1264 pixels * Please be sure to keep all text within the safe margin. Resolution 300 DPI
Note, a photoshop template is also available.
3. I need suggestions in general from folks about the site and 2008 and what you think we should be doing, shouldn't be doing, or whatever!

I would like to suggest Covenant House. They help homeless kids get off the street, live in a safe place, and get their lives turned around. I think they are doing amazing things. They do have a way to contribute online and make it "in honor of", so I think it would work the way you want. You might check their website for further info.
