I don't know about everybody else out there, but I am in no way shape or form a fan of "Manga" and I sure don't like the idea of "Manga" sketch cards.
Just my 2 cents. |

The number of chase cards in this set is just ridiculous. Why must they do this? I guess Topps will keep taking advantage of collectors until we stop buying.

Looks like the same format as for series 4 i.e. stupid inserts once again

Great-- so the Manga cards will be like the die cut sketches last time-- cards nobody wants by artists nobody cares about drawing images that are nothing like star wars...
Hopefully they dont give the artists as free a rein as they did last time for the "special" sketch cards.. |

That means we might see them by March, right? |

Oddly, Topps already posted information on their site for Galaxy 5.
Here I think I'm really gonna like this set. I just hope they don't have the awful mistakes Galaxy 4 did. Any thoughts on the new inserts? Have/Want list Feedback "Alright look, there's only one "Return", okay! And it ain't of the King, it's of the Jedi!" -Randal Graves (Clerks II) |

I'm beginning to get burned out on Galaxy sets. Some of the inserts look good, but there are too many very limited ones again. I wish they would drop them and go with just the more common chase cards. Looks like another set where my definition of "completion" isn't really anywhere near complete.

This set looks pretty good except for the 1/1 cards. Also, this is way to close to the release of the CW Widevision set! I guess I shouldn't complain since we are not waiting forever for another set but come on, what two months after the release of the last set....geez. Here's hoping these get pushed back about 3 months!

It is very interesting that TOPPS already has information out for Galaxy 5. It seems as if they Clone Wars WV set was a red headed step-child that they just threw out there until they could get Gal 5 out. On the Hobby insert page is says "Guaranteed! One sketch card in every box". I wonder if they got tired of sending out replacement cards and they have a fix for people not receiving a sketch or if it's just a typo? I kind of like the signed vintage galaxy portraits but hopefully there will be something on them so you can tell if someone takes an old card and forges it. Also, has anyone seen anything on promo cards? I wonder if we will see only one promo card again via the TOPPS binder this time...only time will tell?

They had the same guarantee of a sketch card in every Hobby box for Clone Wars WV. One of mine didn't have a sketch and they did send me one after I complained and they told me what to send them.

Really? I thought all the past sets stated estimated 1 sketch in each box, not guarenteed.

There are 3 other ad sheets from Topps for Galaxy 5 shown in this thread.
They look pretty cool. http://nonsportupdate.infopop....4453/m/546104762/p/2 David |

Well, I see what you are saying. I took the one per box as being more than an estimate, and I thought I read somewhere that it was a guarantee (although I can't find it now). When I talked with Topps about not getting a sketch in one box and saying we were supposed to get one sketch card in each box, they didn't argue - they just told me what to send them and they sent me one. Maybe that was just good customer service. By the way, I see Topps has now posted all the artists for the Clone Wars WV sketches, broken out by regular and animator, and shows the odds of getting any one of them. Better late than never. |

I'm reasonably encouraged on the Galaxy 5 set info so far.
I think the only thing I don't like is the separate chase for the Retail set. Give up on distinguishing retail from hobby altogether (CW set essentially did that since you could get all the major chase cards in the retail except maybe one type, and there were no retail exclusives I could see - my retail sketch is exactly like a hobby sketch). Having one type of chase only in the retail, instead of fully unique retail stuff just creates a really hard to get chase type that most people won't collect. Especially since the odds on those unique retail chase always seem really lamely hard. I'm not buying the equivalent of a case at retail! Oh well. I hope they do a binder. I don't hate the CW one. I'm glad they are offering binders again. I wouldn't mind a tin if it were nicely done. I like the sound of most of the chase cards, even if most will be ones I never see. Who knows, I might get lucky. That's the fun of it I think. It does seem a bit soon after the CW WV set, but hopefully it will be late like all their other sets, and that will make it all work out okay. I think I could deal with 2 sets beyond Galaxy for the rest of 2010. |

Know this is off topic a bit, but Cathy there is a minor difference with the retail sketch cards.
Hobby Sketchs have Anakin on the Back Retail Sketches have Yoda on the Back Animator Sketches have Ventress on the Back Also if you look at the odds...there were two artists that were only available in retail packs. Now back onto the topic.... I also wish they did away with retail exclusive chase cards... --- Arbra |

There were two autograph cards that were only in retail packs - the Clones and the Battledroid.

Good catch on the retail vs. hobby differences. I totally did NOT notice that. I feel dumb.
I really need to update the page for this set again. Topps makes everything SO difficult anymore. |
