I saw this earlier too. I'd be interested in acquiring the set too however it is one of those I'll take it if it is there but I can leave it if it isn't scenarios.
Did these ever surface? I don't live in Boston but close enough that the Globe is one of the newspapers available. I looked in a bunch but did not see the cards. Just wondering if it was a Boston Globe in Boston only deal.
Thanks.

Oh That explains why I never saw anything about it. Was kicking myself for living in Boston and never seeing those cards (subscribers only!!!) Well I too went to ebay last week and got one there kinda cheap too. Anybody interested here's the URL: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item...geName=STRK:MEWA:VRI
See Ya
ps. I used the Best Offer option on this auction and was accepted. Goo Luck Guys
The nice woman who answers the phone for any of you will likely be the same woman who answered the phone when I called. I explained I wanted to buy a back issue of the July 23rd issue (normal cost, $4) and mentioned off-hand that I wanted it for the Clone Wars cards. She responded, "Are the cards the only reason you want the issue? Because if they are, I'll just send you the cards." Thrilled, I said, "Well, how much would I need to pay you for the cards?” She responded, “Nothing! It’s just a promotion, so I will send them to you free.” Sweet! So, before I could say another word, she followed that comment up with the question, “How many do you want?” Uhhhhhhh, in my head I was thinking 100, but instead I chickened out and said 3. She said Okay, got my address, and my cards arrived a week later.
My unsolicited, friendly Jedi advice to each of you is before you dish out any money on that auction site for the cards, call the Boston Globe store first…..
Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the helpful information Geoff! I just got my free set in the mail today. It was bent in half, and a bit crunched as well, but since it was free, I am not complaining
