It doesn't say how many Animation cells, motion and foil cards in a set. Retail sounds more fun.
It doesn't say what the odds of the sketches are yet, if it isn't at least one to a box like you say some people will be mighty annoyed (not me though, one will do me ).
This is a nice number of cards to track down, I am liking the inclusion of motion cards and only 1 level of parallel (still too high for parallels), I may stand a chance to complete this set as well. So there is a chance (I wont hold my breath though) that a master set is gettable if you exclude sketches and that the other chase are in sets of the usual 9 or so
Sequentially numbered parallels, if it one to a box the numbering will have to go quite high, an attempt by Topps to drum up more interest in these, it is only the red parallels of 30th ratio again and those cards are gettable still.
Looking forward to this one for now, just hope they don't come up with more chase cards in the meantime.

I guess it all boils down to how many different artists are sketching and how many each did.
trying to get 1 of every artist is hard enough, but when you get five or six artists that do 25 or less cards...it is almost impossible.
It does sound like the parallel set will be along the lines of the Red set from 30th. Maybe a little bit tougher due to less cases. But the 90 card set (instead of 120) should help balance it out.
I am sure the pre-orders are not as big for this set as they were for 30th so I have my fingers crossed for less artists and more from each. But I would not be surprised if Topps went with a 1 every 36 packs scenario, instead of a 1 every box scenario.
The cards do look nice and it will definately get me excited for the new movie and the tv show to follow.

I'm curious as to how we will distinguish between this set and the previous Clone Wars set. (Think five or more years down the line.)
The subject line of this thread makes sense to me: Topps Star Wars: Clone Wars (2008) & Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) for the earlier set. I wonder if anyone has any other suggestions? (Humour me, people. As a historian, I ponder on this sort of thing alot.)
We could play on other card sets, just to really confuse everyone. It could be Clone Wars Updated (CWU), Clone Wars Evolution (CWE), or Clone Wars II (CWII). Maybe we can do what some DVDs do when they re-release an extended version of a movie and call it The Clone Wars Episode 2.5, (TCW EP2.5).
Oh well, someone will come up with something more interesting then these

Over one hundred [100+] artists are working on this set. Below is the sneak peak image that is doing the rounds. Bear in mind that Topps have a terrible habit of tempting us with great art card previews that are very rare and then 'surpising' us after the release date with artists that do 2000 or so basic doodles. I don't know if I can do it to myself again - if fact, I won't. Best of luck though to those going for those few rare cards. . . . . . S
Over 100 hundred, I am glad I decided I had a master set at just one sketch. This news will allienate more collectors from a true master set i am sure.
What I ask is does this news mean there could possibly be more than one sketch per box or a more higher level of sketch (say each artist does less cards than the previous average hence quality could be increased).
100 artists huh? Well I can't say that I am suprised, but I can say I am disappointed.
I just can't justify trying to get all 100+ artists. I did read from an artist that the minimum an artist could sign up for was 150 sketches. It could be possible if we dont get any artists doing 20 sketches or 35 or 50 even, but I am sure Topps will insert what ever cards they get in a mad scramble to get every possible box of cards out for presell.

it gets worse also...rebelscum just linked in a flyer and it says: " Specially Marked Cards Limited to 66 Per Animator & 25 by the Director", so i guess that means that there will exist 2 different types of sketched cards, one with the specially mark (whatever that will be) and the regular sketch cards.

That is fine by me. I think EACH artist should have a "Specially Marked Card", maybe with some biographical info on the back. At least the director and animators are getting this. I see it as a good trend.

The specially marked cards for the artist are a good trend if they do them correctly. I would love a special card that represented more time spent on the card, more color, or bio info. What I am afraid of is that given Topps track record, the special card could just be a hologram sticker applied to the sketch.
I am also in agreement with ddivito about the low number. While I am not a completist (let me dream), the new sets do keep on pushing the boundries of a "master" set. Now, not only do you have to obtain 1 of each artist, you have to obtain 2 of each artist. Now I am not going to attempt this (I never have), but I do keep what keeps my way. I am sure that most people are like this. This means that it even makes it harder for the completist to get the sets. What eventually happens (my own opinion) is that eventually the completist (spending most of the money) leave the hobby...if you cannot have one of everything (or at least have the possibility of it), then they get nothing. Once the big spenders go away, then it starts a chain reaction, the line is no longer profitable since less people are spending the high dollars on the items, which causes dealers to order less, which eventually ends the line.
Anyways, I have been sucked in again for a case; hopefully it will not be a mistake, but given the past few sets it probably is. Oh Well..

Someone posted this over at nonsportupdate: From Previews magazine, for release in Sept.:
"STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS STICKER FUN PACKS Just in time for the holiday season, Star Wars: The Clone Wars Sticker Fun Packs are the perfect stocking stuffer for Star Wars fans. 90 sticker cards feature scenes from the groundbreaking animated theatrical feature with The Clone Wars trivia on the backs. Test your knowledge with your friends! Multiple levels of fun are in store for the collector, as well as interactive inserts that include Foil Stickers (1:3 packs), Die-Cut Pop-ups(1:3 packs), Temporary Tattoos (1:4 packs), and Magnet Cards (1:12 packs), 7 sticker cards per pack, 24 packs per box. (C: 1-1-2) NOTE: Available only in the United States, Canada, and U.S. Territories. Pack MSRP: $2.00"
Sounds like another(??) retail version of the 2008 CW set. The "90 sticker cards" instead of "90 cards" might make it a different set. These are all different from the July release (based on the Topps website info): Foil Stickers (not cards), Die-Cut Pop-ups, Temporary Tattoos, & Magnet Cards

As Topps keeps adding more and more various types and numbers of chase cards, I am more and more losing interest in this set. Why must they do this with every set? I will get the base cards, but I'm not going to buy a bunch of boxes just to chase all these unnecessary chase cards, stickers, whatever they are. It isn't fun for me any more.

I was hoping that this set would be a simpler set, it was originally penned that it would be aimed more at kids. Woth all the chase i do not think that is what has happened.
I have a feeling that sticker set will somehow not be as popular, I know stickers are popular but normally only as chase sets, a base set of them, Topps would be better sticking to doing them as standard cards. Seems like another lot of the same old chase cards here. Hopefully no stupid rare parallels or sketches this time though (touch wood).
I may get a box and get the rest of the chase of Ebay with this one.
