I don't think this has been discussed yet from what I can see, so here we go....
Okay, something took me by total surprise today, and it was my 10-year-old kiddo who alerted me to this.....!!!
So there we were, after running around doing upteen errands, my son & daughter & I were, once again, selling our souls to the merchandising fast food devil by chowing down on McD's, when Ben, my 10-year-old let out a big gasp.
He always looks at the bottom of the Happy Meals bags and boxes to see what is coming next in the toy line-up (guess who he learned THAT from!). He showed me the bag and, sure enuff, there was a tiny SW logo with the announcement that the next promo is the Clone Wars!
Needless to say, we were both excited to have another SW collectible to chase in a few weeks, but I was also saying to myself, "Huh????"
I mean.....I thought, from a licensing perspective, that Burger King always had a lock on the SW promos. As far as I can remember, unless someone can correct me, EVERY film has had a promotional tie-in at BK. A tie-in at McD's would therefore be a first.
What excited me about this unexpected event is that while BK's promos have been nicely designed in the past, I have always found it easier to deal with McD personnel when chasing down the paraphenelia, and they could care less how OLD an unopened toy is when trading it in for a new one (I have a bag of unopened toys in my trunk that I find at thrift stores that I use for trade-in at McD's).
Does anyone have any further information about this promotion?
Happy hunting!

Here is an article I read about it a while back. 18 toys in Happy meals from 15/8/08 over a 4 week period only. You will have to scroll down the page after the jump to locate the bit about McD's promotion.
Mary Franklin asked the Orlando 501st to troop a McDOnalds convention about 4 months ago. I was one of the 6 picked to do it. There were people from all around the globe here. If I remember there are 18 toys in the US and 18 different ones for overseas.
We werent allowed to take pics because it was hush hush. SOme of the toys look cool. Gonna be hard to track down all 36 of them.
Well, I got lucky with the McDonalds in Del Rio, TX. The first day they were out I went through the drive thru and asked if they would sell an entire set of 18. Yep, got lucky and only paid $10.80 for the whole set!
